A Brief History

The Volunteer Service Club of Pewaukee was founded in 1960 as a non-profit charitable outreach organization. The nine founding members were: Millie Ingersoll, Beslu Koch, Margaret Koch, Delores (Puss) Meyer, Edwina Nelson, Ruth Reitz, Dagna Rush, Marion Thiele and Bernice Wenninger. Today, we have grown to 35 active members and more than 30 associate members.

It is our mission to help women and children in Waukesha County move beyond challenges to live life more fully. We support organizations that provide programs and services for women, children and families to lead a better quality of life. Our members dedicate a tremendous amount of time and talent to raise funds to support and volunteer at many worthwhile organizations.

Originally, fundraisers were bake sales, rummage sales, bridge games, flower and plant sales and more. Historically, our signature fundraising event is the Holiday Festival of Fashion Luncheon that is held annually in November. In 2021, a Wine Tasting Event has been added in alternating years to add an evening event for more guests to enjoy. To date, we have raised over $400,000 for Waukesha County charities.

Each year we choose different nonprofit organizations to support. Previous organizations include: Lake Area Free Clinic, Lake Country Caring, LifeStriders, Parents Place, Safe Babies/Healthy Families, Team Up with Families/Katy’s Kloset, The Women’s Center, Waukesha County Community Smiles Dental Clinic and the local Waukesha County food pantries.
